R. Alan Shelton, M.D.

Board-Certified Ophthalmologist Cornea & External Disease Specialist

Specializing in anterior segment surgery including cataract, cornea, glaucoma, and complex combination procedures, Dr. Shelton stands on the forefront of surgeons in experience and expertise. This affords him a large referral base for complex surgical procedures. Being among the most experienced cataract surgeons in the United States, he has had the opportunity to embrace the most advanced intraocular lens (IOL) technology. He has implanted over 35,000 IOLs including 5,000 Lifestyle IOLs. In August 2016, he was honored to be one of first surgeons in Southern California to implant the newly FDA approved Tecnis Symfony and Symfony Toric IOLs.

Dr. Shelton enjoys helping his patients achieve their visual goals. He is thrilled to have the ability to bring patients’ visual function closer and closer to that of their youth. We live in an era of exponential technological advancement and Dr. Shelton is forever grateful to those who are continually developing the medical technologies he is able to utilize to improve the lives of his patients.
